Chat GPT or advancements in AI generated text and search results will massively change how we find and share information.
This is going to have big implications for the world, and the world of work. I think it spells the end of scrolling – who would scroll through social media posts mostly written by computers…and you will no longer need to search through multiple websites to find the information you are looking for. It will also impact the demand for some occupations – for instance, SEO experts and content creators to name a few.
I also think it’s going to have big implications for recruitment. Chat GPT can generate CVs and cover letters – and the more information you feed it the more personalised they can be. However, what recruiter is going to want to sit down and read through computer generated applications? It would be such a waste of time. So they will use AI powered reading algorithms to read through the Chat GPT generated applications. So you will have computers talking to computers with little human involvement. There is also little cost to applying as it would only take seconds to generate an application, so you will have multiples of the number of applicants applying for every open role.
I think this might spell the end of CVs and cover letters. I think there will be an increase in the use of application forms that have to be submitted directly via organisations recruitment platforms, and also an increase in the use of psychometric tests as screening tools. I also think there will be an increase in the number of roles filled through referrals / networking.
